How to Reduce Screen Time and still Get Work Done

Let’s talk motivation, I’m always interested in our relationship with our screens and how we can reduce the time in front of them. There’s loads of tips online about reducing screen time but very few take into account that so many of us rely on them to get our jobs done! So, I thought I’d share 3 ways to reduce screen time, whilst still getting your tasks done:

  1. Plan ahead, take notes

Get as much done off screen before you open your laptop. Make notes, say it out loud and make a plan before you start browsing. The same goes for phones – even saying ‘I need to check my emails’ before picking up your phone can help.

  1. Take your calls whilst doing something else

Walk and talk baby! Headphones in and camera off if possible. Communicate that you plan on doing this before your scheduled call and make the most of being able to look at something other than a screen. 

  1. Take your browsing elsewhere

It’s good to branch out and not always use Pinterest as the source of all inspiration (even though I LOVE pinterest!). Pick up a magazine, read newspaper articles, listen to podcasts to get info etc.
