I know that Monday morning feeling can sometimes make it feel like these two precious days went by in a flash, but I’m here to remind you that you can hold onto that feeling all week long. As part of my Banging Toolkit, I share tips that help you get the most out of your work & life whilst prioritising your well-being.
If the beginning of the week doesn’t fill you with joy, here’s 3 ways to boost your Monday mood.
1) Write a gratitude list reflecting on the weekend
We all know expressing gratitude has a ton of mental & physical benefits. Studies have shown that feeling thankful can improve sleep, mood & immunity. Gratitude can lower depression, anxiety, difficulties with chronic pain & risk of disease. Instead of feeling like the weekend disappeared in a flash, take a moment to write out the things you loved about it. Start with 3 bullet points if you’re feeling stuck.
2) Try a random act of kindness
Research shows that helping others can be good for our mental health. It reduces stress, improves our emotional well-being & even benefits our physical health. Grab a coffee for your colleague, donate some clothes you’ve not been wearing to the charity shop, send a friend a postcard (or use a site like Moonpig to save yourself a trip to the post box).
3) Face the sun
Sunlight helps boost a chemical in your brain called serotonin, which gives you energy & helps keep you calm, positive & focused. Seasonal affective disorder (SAD) is a thing & other types of depression are all linked to low levels of serotonin with natural or artificial light. I’m hanging on to these last days of summer, so let’s make the most of it!
Fancy giving any of these a go this week?
